"Mammoth musings"

Films: The Thaw (2009)

Alias: None

Type: Ancient

Location: Tundra/Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of average mealworms.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: Most of the time, when you thaw out a prehistoric beast, it's just that which partakes in mayhem. But lucky for us, we thawed out something harmless, and very much dead. Okay, it may be dead, but its unwitting cargo was certainly alive and killing...

History: The Canadian Arctic is in for a nasty surprise. Recently, a frozen mammoth has been thawed out, and after being taken to research, the folks there realize something horrible. Its brain was containing a strain of parasitic insects that burrow into the skin and take over people’s minds while eating them from the inside. And they're damn good at breeding too…

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: It seems at first that blowing up both the infected and the building they were in works to destroy the parasites. But then it's revealed that some have spread out, and are coming to civilization...

Powers/Abilities: Explosive breeding and mind control.

Weakness: If you remain sedated and unmoving, they won't see you as a worthy host.

Scariness Factor: 4-The CGI may not be doing them much favors, but do you really want to get mobbed by a horde of crawling flesh-eaters that will either consume you from within or use you as a puppet? We didn't think so.

Trivia: -This film was also known as "Arctic Outbreak", "Parasites", and "Bedbugs".

-There have been cases of viruses and diseases being unearthed from the ancient soil, particularly in Siberia. It is one of the many fears involving global warming.

Not even store mannequins are safe from them.

Quick! The flyswatter!
Trust us. Aside from the demonic ice Gorgonopsid, they aren't lying!

Yep. We're doomed. All because of Tweety.
